Advanced UltraFiltration

Septabore™

Theway Membranes, a brand of Theway Membranes, is an innovation focused membrane technology company with a very sharp focus on easy-to-use, durable, impactful and commercially competitive membranes for various applications.

Septabore, is an ultrafiltration technology that is the fruit of 3 decades of membrane research and real world deployment of a multitude of UItrafiltration products. SeptaBore refers to an unique Hollow fiber membrane technology used in Ultrafiltration, where Septabore fibers are well suited for ultrafiltration and provide a very unique set of advantages to be able to deal with tough feed water solutions. Septabore, as the name suggests, consists of a high strength hollow fiber with 7 bores or capillaries per fiber. The feed water enters into the lumens of these capillaries and traverses laterally through the fiber and leaves as ultra-filtered permeate water.

The major challenges in capillary/hollow fiber membrane technology has been the failure of fibers, resulting in the loss of integrity of the membrane module. This is generally overcome by the use of high temperature extrusion processes like Thermally-Induced-Phase-Separation (TIPS), which compromise on selectivity and rejection of the UF membrane, thereby having to provide increased pore sizes to achieve necessary commercially competitive flux, thereby compromising on suspended particle, bacterial, viral rejection efficiency. But, with Septabore, there are no compromises, the low temperature extrusion process ensures very high rejection and selectivity, higher porosity, sharp active layer, thereby achieving very high flux rates for a given feed pressure, all while ensuring almost zero capillary failures.

Made of Polyethersulfone, a superior material with higher hydrophilicity, with better caustic resistance, SeptaBore membrane modules provide a long service life

Why Septabore ?

• Suitable for Operation at High Pressure, which results in High Flow Rate.
• More Strength to the fibre, therefore high operating reliability.
• Long service life with low maintenance costs.
• Consistently high level of filtrate quality.
• Reliable retention of suspended solids and microorganisms.
• High chemical resistance. • Good antifouling properties.
• Tolerance over an extremely wide pH range (pH 1 to pH 13)
• Exceptionally easy to clean.

Differences between
Single Bore and Septa Bore™

Single Bore

1. Sensitive to pressure fluctuations
2. Integrity Loss occurs regularly
3. Not resistant to tough cleaning
4. Per m2, polymer used is much lesser

Septabore™

1. Able to withstand pressure fluctuations
2. High-Strength fibers offer better durability
3. Extremely resistant to tough cleaning procedures
4. Per m2, polymer used in much higher

iRack

To meet the needs of the market and our customer’s requirements, Theway Membranes has developed an innovative cost-saving and space-saving rackless system, to meet specific requirements of larger-scale filtration systems (e.g. those used for pre-treatment in sea water desalination or waste water reuse) by launching the our new compact assembly system called iRack.

Why iRack Assembly ?

• Occupies less space - Less Footprints.
• Plug and Play Installation - Easy to Assemble.
• Suitable for Operation at High Pressure.
• High Corrosion Resistance - Suitable for Sea water filtration.
• High Flexibility - Flexible on basis of Expansion.
