The TheWay UF Flat Sheet Membrane is a plate-and-frame ultrafiltration membrane designed for submerged MBR applications and high-solids wastewater treatment. The flat sheet configuration offers unique advantages in applications with very high MLSS concentrations, fibrous solids, or where hollow fiber membranes are prone to clogging.
Key Specifications
Operating Parameters
Advantages of Flat Sheet Design
Flat sheet membranes tolerate very high MLSS (up to 25,000 mg/L) without clogging, resist fibrous and hair-like solids, allow individual panel replacement, support simplified physical cleaning via panel removal and hosing, and offer robust mechanical structure that withstands aggressive aeration. Ideal for high-strength industrial wastewater, landfill leachate, and food processing.
Chemical Compatibility
Storage and Handling
Panels ship dry with protective film. Store at 5–40°C away from sunlight. Pre-soak in clean water 1 hour before cassette assembly. Perform vacuum hold test on assembled cassettes before introducing mixed liquor. For extended storage after use, clean and store in 0.5% sodium bisulfite, refreshed every 30 days.
FAQ
Q: When should I choose flat sheet over hollow fiber?
A: Choose flat sheet for high-strength industrial wastewater with MLSS > 15,000 mg/L, feeds with fibrous solids, or when individual panel replaceability is valued.
Q: Expected membrane lifespan?
A: 5–10 years. The rigid support structure often results in longer lifespans than hollow fiber in harsh applications.
Q: Can damaged panels be replaced individually?
A: Yes. Individual panels can be isolated or replaced, minimizing downtime and cost.
